Alliance Bushido

Bushido, as some of you will already know, is the Samurai Code of Conduct. It governed how they lived, acted, and battled. I won't go into a lot of detail here, but they had one rule that I live by as an Alliance PvPer, and I've noticed results...

"He who makes the first move has made the choice to die."

No, I am not saying you should sit back and wait for the Horde to attack first. That is NOT what this means. It's not saying if you run in first, you WILL die (although it's highly likely). It's about comitment.

When I target a Horde and I move in to engage, I've made my decision: I'm comited to the battle. That battle will not end until one of us is dead, I will not back down, I will not run - I see this mentality a lot in the Horde.

A lot of Rogues will use a lot of stuns, which isn't a bad tactic - Even if you do less damage, you're taking a lot less due to their inability to fight back. But a lot of stuns often gives you the chance to run away should things start to look sour - A tactic that has gotten many rogues a bad name.

I often do not open with Cheap Shot (and I never open with Ambush). I prefer Garrote - It's a very potent DoT and that 3 seconds of silence is a nice surprise for an opener. But now that they're bleeding, my Gouge and Blind are near useless, giving me less options to run... Garrote is a more open commitment to a fight than Cheap Shot or Ambush. Especially if Garrote is followed up by Rupture. Mmmm... Rupture is good stuff.

I'm not saying you should run head first into impossible odds: One rogue vs, say, 3 mages won't end well, ever. But have faith in your team: If you're with a few others and you see the Horde, call them out and move to engage if it's viable to do so: Chances are at least ONE team member will come join the fray.

Be fearless, For The Alliance!
